Eye Outfitters first opened its doors in 1997 in a small 3 room office in the Brandon Shoppers Mall with the goal of providing Western Manitoba residents with the latest eye care technology possible.  


The clinic has expanded and relocated 3 times within Brandon and now resides at the current location at 1502 9th St, Brandon, MB R7A 4E1. 


With 4 full time optometrists and 6 dedicated and knowledgeable team  members  Eye Outfitters has become a leader in the eye care industry.

Our Doctors

Dr. Brent

Caswell

Born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario, Dr. Caswell obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Laurentian University where he received the CIMM entrance scholarship. He went on to graduate from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA in 1996 where he received his Doctor of Optometry degree.  Dr Caswell had clinical internships in Roxbury, MA, Providence, Rhode Island as well as Waterloo, ON.


 In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children. If he's not at work he can typically be found at a hockey rink or other sporting venues cheering on his kids and enjoying a cup of coffee. 

Dr. David
Ferguson

Raised in Moosomin, Saskatchewan, Dr. David Ferguson attended the University of Waterloo where he received his Bachelor of Science and Doctorate of Optometry graduating with honours. There he received the T.T. Beattie Award in Orthoptics and the B&L Contact Lens Award. Following graduation he worked in private practice in Winnipeg for 2 years. He has been in Brandon since 1988 with the exception of 3 years spent on Vancouver Island.


His clinical interests are comprehensive but especially include management of glaucoma, retinal vascular disease and dry eye disease. He sees patients of all ages from 6 months to 100+ years old. His personal interests are also many and varied, including outdoor activities (cycling, running, kayaking, skiing, camping) and spending time with his wife and kids.


Dr. Brennan
Carels

Dr. Brennan Carels grew up in Brandon Manitoba and earned an undergraduate degree in biology from Brandon University in 2014. After receiving his degree in Brandon, he headed south to pursue his optometric education at the Midwestern University Arizona College of Optometry. While at Midwestern, he served as president of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honour Society. He was also a member of the Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity Club and spent a week in Mexico providing services to patients with limited access to eye care. 


Dr. Carels had clinical internship in Oklahoma, Arizona, Washington and Florida. During his internships he developed a special interest in ocular disease and contact lenses. After graduation from Midwestern, he practiced in Penticton, British Columbia before returning to Brandon. He's happy to be home offering full scope optometric services to patients in Brandon and surrounding area.


Dr. Erin
Pangerl

Dr. Erin Pangerl grew up in Pine City, Minnesota and earned her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2015. She then moved to Oregon where she earned her Doctor of Optometry degree at Pacific University College of Optometry in 2019. While she was in school, she developed a strong passion for pediatrics and vision therapy, and she was the coordinator and statistical analyst for Pacific's sports vision training program. She was also an active member in her school's volunteer programs- providing vision and eyecare services at schools, shelters, and special needs events around Oregon, as well as in underserved communities while on a mission trip in Costa Rica.


 


After graduation, Dr. Pangerl returned home to Minnesota and began working. She later moved to Brandon shortly after writing the Canadian optometric board exams and has loved living in the area ever since! Outside of the office, Erin enjoys reading books, spending time with friends and family, and playing her favorite sports.
